Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas

Dr. Leslie A. Weisberg serves as the Market chief medical officer of Southwest Texas for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX). She works closely with partners and programs in local communities to improve public health along with providing expertise to network and sales and account management teams. She most recently served as executive medical director where she developed the Clinical Claims Integrity Unit, a program designed to ensure members receive the right care delivered at the right place at the right price.
Throughout her tenure, Dr. Weisberg has been a role model and advocate for delivering quality, accessible care across Texas. Prior to joining BCBSTX, she was named one of D Magazine’s “Best Doctors in Dallas” for four consecutive years while managing her own private practice. In addition, she served as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Medical City Plano and the Genesis Physicians Group Allergy and Immunology Board. She also helped develop a new initiative at Amerigroup Texas focused on value-based care outcomes for Medicaid recipients.
As a leader in both the provider and payer spaces, Dr. Weisberg is an expert in working collaboratively with clinicians, administrators, and regulators to produce results. In 2020, Governor Abbott appointed Dr. Weisberg to the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force, which coordinates the implementation of the state’s plan to combat chronic kidney disease.
Dr. Weisberg is also an active member in her community. During her time in North Texas, she participated in the Leadership North Texas program sponsored by the North Texas Chamber of Commerce. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the North Texas Food Bank and has been a member of the Temple Shalom Sisterhood for nearly 10 years.
Dr. Weisberg received her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital. She also completed her MBA in Health Care Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to these, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences.
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Weisberg enjoys spending time at the theatre, watching sports and traveling with her husband Marc and two sons Phillip and Garrett.
